FAQ – kdornbier designs

PDF patterns include a fabric purchasing guide, material list, and detailed tutorial instructions including seam allowances and areas for alterations. All patterns include tiled pattern pieces for at-home printing on letter (8.5x11”) paper in sizes 0-24, and most include an additional page(s) in A0 format for printing at a copy shop. PDF patterns will be available for download immediately after purchase on the confirmation page, and via a download link emailed after purchase. Please ensure that you save your pattern files to your computer before you print them to save it for future use.

PDF patterns include all instructions and tiled pattern pieces, and can be printed at home on letter paper. Print out the pattern page that contains the calibration square first. Measure the 1” calibration square to make sure the pattern was printed to the right size. If the calibration is off, you may need to adjust your printer settings. Cut away the top and right-side edges of the pattern tiles where indicated, and use the corner squares to align the pattern pieces and tape together. Patterns will include a pattern assembly guide to help with understanding the pattern layout. Cut out the assembled pattern along your size line.

To get the best fit from a pattern, we highly suggest knowing your true size measurements and selecting your pattern size from there. Use a measuring tape and a friend to find your bust, waist, or hip measurements. It’s rare for one particular size to fit perfectly in every area, so we suggest choosing a size based on your largest size category and following along with pattern tutorials on where and when to take in parts of the garment.

Different products have different processing times, ranging from 2-7 days, followed by shipping speeds dependent on customer location. Once an order has shipped, domestic orders are delivered within 1-3 days, European orders arrive in 5-10 days, and non-European orders may take up to 15-30 days for delivery. Expedited orders are available on a product-by-product basis, both domestically and internationally.

Once and order has shipped, you will receive an email with tracking details. If you have not received a shipping update one week after placing an order, feel free to contact us using our contact page.

Delivery times may take longer during busy holiday seasons.

Please confirm your address is correct at checkout and message us as soon as possible if changes need to be made. Orders cannot be rerouted once they ship. Buyers are responsible for either retrieving items from an old address or repurchasing items to have them reshipped to a new address. If an item is ‘Returned to Sender’ due to an unaccepted address, the buyer is responsible for shipping charges involved in re-sending the package and must wait for the original package to be received before resending is processed.

The customer is responsible for inspecting their order upon arrival and informing us within 48 hours with any concerns with the delivered items, no exceptions. Please send photo evidence of damage to the package and its contents for us to best file a claim with the shipping service. We cannot replace items reported damaged without photo evidence.

All orders are final once they have been processed through the checkout. In certain cases, changes to size or color may be made to an order, please let us know immediately if you have purchased the wrong size or color of an item. Unfortunately, no further changes can be made to your order once processed including and not limited to; removing and/or adding items to your order, combining orders or cancelling your order.

Please ensure all details on your order are correct before confirming your checkout. In particular, we recommend double-checking your email address, delivery address and the acceptance, and accuracy, of promotional codes.

Unfortunately, we do not accept returns at this time unless an item arrives damaged. For items that arrive damaged upon delivery, the customer is responsible for inspecting their order upon arrival and informing us within 48 hours with any concerns with the delivered items, no exceptions. Please send photo evidence of damage to the package and its contents for us to best file a claim with the shipping service. We cannot replace items reported damaged without photo evidence.

We are able to accept apparel exchanges for a different size. You can exchange your apparel product up to 14 days after receiving your order. Apparel exchanges must arrive in new condition, not worn, washed, or damaged, with tags still attached and in the original packaging. You must notify us via our contact page if you desire to exchange an apparel item within 7 days. Shipping costs for returns are at the customer’s expense, and exchanges cannot be processed until all items are received and the condition is confirmed.

Personalization of existing items depends on the product. All options are outlined on the product page, so look out for customization options in the item description.

Contact us for questions about custom merchandise for an event or gift - we'd love to have our art be a part of the big day! An extra design fee will apply, and custom merchandise will be marked up slightly from in-stock products. Please place custom orders at least four weeks ahead of the event need-by date to allow for design, setup, purchasing, and shipping times. Custom merchandise may not be returned.

Limited custom artwork slots are available around the holiday season.

The artist, Kaitlyn Dornbier, owns the rights to all illustrations present on merchandise on this site, and illustrations are protected from misappropriation, misuse, and unauthorized use by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other laws and treaties that uphold intellectual property rights.

Purchase of items does not grant transfer of copyright. Recreations of illustrations are strictly prohibited and may not be sold, redistributed, reprinted for personal or commercial use, or reproduced in any way without prior written consent. If products are shared on social media, we kindly ask that you tag @kdornbier.

Prints themselves are professional, high-quality archival prints made with a fine-art printer, allowing the art to stay true to its original color quality. Purchased prints will arrive without watermarks. All prints are signed and dated after it is produced with archival ink.

Prints are shipped from the studio in protective archival packaging, in a clear sleeve with a cardboard backing, for safe shipping. Orders with multiple like-sized prints will be packaged in a single plastic sleeve. If you would like them individually wrapped, the buyer must contact me prior to or directly after purchasing.

Changes to size, skin tone, or color are not accepted after an order ships. If you require a change to skin tone or color of a print, please contact us immediately through our contact page. Changes to print size will require an order cancellation, and the buyer will be responsible for placing a new order in the proper size.
